“the womb of creation”

A collection of artwork conceived during the sweet cocoon of late pregnancy, I tenderly welcome you to “the womb of creation.” Thank you for being here!

This body of work is dedicated to the mothers — the ultimate creators, the feminine force, the earth energy.

Unlike my past abstract work, this collection is abundant in symbolism:

  • Vases: the womb + container of creation

  • Eyes: the protecter (evil eye) and seat of intuition and wisdom (third eye)

  • Poppies: the flower of death + rebirth — the death of one self and the invitation of a new one

  • Botanical elements: planting seeds of creation, stretching taller, expanding

  • Embroidery: intricate hand-embroidery detailing to honor a lineage of mothers before us

Silk chiffon, a transparent fabric, reveals what is typically hidden behind wall art, and this fabric is chosen intentionally to symbolize the practice of inviting others in to see our whole, raw, tender selves (our scars, wounds, losses, dreams, fears, pleasures).

Each piece of this collection is one-of-a-kind.
